Welcome to Jordans Picture House

Community Cinema in Jordans Village

Normally at this time of year we would be busy planning the start of our next season, which would usually be in September or October. Sadly, partly due to some restrictions on the use of the village hall, we’re still unable to say when we will be able to resume our activities. However, we’d like to offer you the opportunity to watch the worldwide premiere virtual screening of a dramatic documentary which tells the story of America’s CIA and Britain’s MI6 overthrowing democracy in Iran in 1953, revealed in extraordinary detail using never seen before footage and documents and brought to life with a mesmerising performance by Ralph Fiennes. It will be streamed at 6p.m. on Weds 19th August and we’ll be able to watch it online through a Smart TV, a PC, laptop, iPad or smartphone. Connection details will be provided nearer the time. A trailer, reviews, tickets and further details are available here:   https://watch.eventive.org/coup53/play/5f33e8767f1e720086f5d13d   Reviews can be found here: https://coup53.com/reviews/   We do hope you will take this opportunity to watch a remarkable film.                                                                   As you will know, it has become necessary for all cinemas to suspend their programmes for the foreseeable future in an effort to curb the spread of the coronavirus. However, we do not see our screenings as "cancelled" but rather, "postponed". Thinking positively, we look forward very much to the day when we can resume our activities, whenever that may be. Rest assured, there will be a very warm welcome for our loyal supporters when we are able to reopen our doors.                 In the meantime, stay safe!

Our programme

We show films on the second Friday of each month and some Tuesdays and Saturdays from September to May. Doors open at 7:15pm with the programme commencing at 8:00pm.

We also run several matinees on Sundays, when we show foreign language films, documentaries or lighter family entertainment. For these, doors open at 3:15pm and the programme commences at 4:00pm.

Please see the Programme page for more details.

Our latest Award!

We were thrilled and proud to win this award for Best Single Event at Cinema For All's annual conference in  September 2019.

Our submission was based on our weekend screenings in November 2018 commemorating the centenary of the WW1 Armistice, during which we showed "Journey's End" and "War Horse", enhanced by songs, readings, displays of memorabilia and greeting of the audience by John, a Welsh cob similar to the hundreds of thousands of horses sent to the battlefields. See our News and Gallery pages for more information and photos.

We aim to show a wide variety of films in order to cater for all tastes, including mainstream titles that may have been missed, classics, documentaries and foreign films.

These are selected by consultation with our Members prior to each season.

Our programme is then finalised by the Committee and those screenings are made available for booking either through this website or via our local Box Offices.
